Easy Beret with Mushroom Variation
Brenda K.B. AndersonLearn to crochet a stylish, simple beret with crochet designer Brenda K. B. Anderson! In this video, Brenda will walk you through the process of making your own beret. You do not need to read a pattern for this project- you can simply follow along with Brenda’s instruction. Any yarn can be used, with a hook that will give you a fairly firm gauge. We begin by making an adjustable loop, then working in the round. Increases are made each round to create a flat circle. (An increase is simply a place where 2 stitches are worked into one stitch).
Brenda uses stitch markers to help us spread out the increases evenly in each round. Once the circle is large enough, a few rounds are worked evenly, and then we begin the decreases to shape the bottom of the hat. This hat ends with a tidy slip stitch edging to keep the hat from stretching out as well as to add just a bit of polish. Just for fun, Brenda shows us how with a few modifications, you can make this beret into a mushroom-themed hat as well!
This beret is simple enough for beginners to make, but all skill levels will appreciate its versatility and straightforward construction.
