Description

In this video, Brenda takes a deep dive into getting gauge: what it means, why it is important and tips on how to achieve the correct gauge. When we follow a crochet pattern, we are expected to meet the gauge given in the pattern. This is very important when we are making something that needs to be a certain size- like a garment, or hat because we need to know that after following the directions, that our project will fit. But even for something like a blanket or amigurumi, it can help us to achieve a fabric with the desired drape or feel. Often, we can change to a different size hook, and that will solve the problem, but what happens when no matter what we do, we are not able to get the same gauge as listed in the pattern? Brenda discusses the reasons that this might happen, offers several different solutions to try, and shows us what to do when we can get the stitch gauge, but we are not able to get the correct row gauge.

We all have a story about how we had to learn the importance of getting gauge the hard way! Please share your experiences below!
