Description

In this video, Mary Beth Temple shares with us the benefits of beginning a project by working in the Back Bump (also called the bottom of the chain). This is easy to do and creates a very polished edge. Give it a try- you’ll be so glad you did!

Hi, I'm Mary Beth Temple. And one of my absolute best tips for neat crochet projects is when you're making your foundation row on a chain to work in the back or bump of the chain instead of the front or the V, the way many of us were taught. So this is what I mean by the V and this is what I mean by the bump and you will have a bump for every chain that you made. So, for example, for single crochet, I'm gonna skip my first one and I'm just going to go front to back in that bump and make my stitch in each bump instead of the front or the V. There's the bottom of my chain. You have a nice neat row of vs that you can work in later if you have to or just leave alone. And it has far more elasticity than working in a foundation chain the usual way.
